Journal Entry #2 –
Anticipation of the students coming—What do you hope to provide for the
students? What do you hope to learn?
When
the kids arrive, I hope to provide them with a memorable experience that they
will never forget. The idea of visiting a college once a week should be a
reason for these kids to remember this program however, if they have a mentor
that positively impacts their lives, that provide an even better reason to
remember this program. I hope to one day come across one of these young
students, and have them approach me and ask, “Hey, were you a teacher with the
Kids in College at Randolph?”.
I
hope to learn how to properly manage a classroom and keep my students engaged
through entertaining learning activities. I also hope to learn a little about
myself as well. I’m not entirely sold on the idea that I want to be a teacher.
I do feel that I want to be in the field of education, I just don’t have the
necessary experience to fully commit quite yet. Through this program, I hope to
gain the tools necessary to make the best decision for my future.
